Get Rid of Crow's Feet

By Alina Karemin

As we age, our skin loses collagen. This causes the skin to starting wrinkling and sagging, and it develops a lack of firmness. The primary cause of crow's feet is age and a poor skin care routine. You should always remove make up with a gentle cosmetic and cotton pads, wear sun cream, moisturize daily and drink plenty of water, because the skin around your eyes is the most delicate skin on your body. Wrinkles are not only formed from age, the causes can range from sun exposure, your diet and even smoking. The way you age is affected heavily by these factors, but it's lucky that you can hold onto your youthful looks through non-surgical methods.

Crows feet is what we call those small lines that develop near the eye area. You may notice them more when you smile. Over time they develop, and when people squint their eyes they are especially pronounced. Young people rarely have crows feet. However, crows feet can appear earlier than necessary because of premature aging and too much sun exposure. It has been discovered that smoking also contributes to their early formation.

Botox injections work by relaxing wrinkle forming facial muscles. Deep wrinkles, such as crows feet, are caused by repetitive facial expressions, as mentioned earlier. One can dramatically improve their appearance and reduce the visibility of the wrinkles by weakening the muscles that are responsible for these facial expressions. Without taking away or detracting from one's facial expressiveness, Botox can weaken the muscles.

The popular media has caused much confusion and misinformation about Botox; as a result, many people who potentially could be helped by this medicine have been frightened away from it. Misuse of this medication by inexperienced or non-licensed users often taking place in non-licensed or non-medical facilities has caused most of the negative news about Botox.

As a nonsurgical procedure, Botox can be done well at a doctor's office. It only takes 5-10 minutes for a treatment. Within one day, improvement in the reduction of wrinkles can be seen, with up to 5 days of continued improvement. Botox results may last anywhere from 3 to 12 months.

Botox is a prescription drug and should not be used by those who have not been trained how to inject the substance. Used in small amounts, Botox, which is a neurotoxin, can paralyze muscles that are contracting. For instance, Botox binds to the nerve ending when it is injected into the affected area, such as where crows feet form near the eyes. By binding to the nerve ending it blocks signals to the muscle that cause it to contract, causing paralysis in that muscle.

There are minimal side effects from Botox injections. In some cases, when there is no recovery time a patient has experienced some swelling and redness around the injection site. Right after having the injection, one can go back to their regular routine. Some individuals have reported a small amount of bruising, nausea, and headaches after an injection but they go away quite quickly.
