Training Online Vs. Training Hands-on For Injection of Botox

By Alina Karemin

Botulinum toxin injections, fondly called Botox injections, are now common practice the world of cosmetic surgery. Botox injections are used for evening out fine lines and wrinkles, for muscle manipulation, and it is also widely used in the treatment of other kinds of medical problems nowadays. To be licensed to deliver Botox injections, medical professionals have to complete the in-depth training required. However, in our ever growing internet world, online training has now become a common path that many take to obtain certification.

But does online training help when it comes to Botox injections? The other option is to learn in-person. Well, the answer is that both of them go hand-in-hand. Let's take a look at this further.

Getting online training

Training over the internet has some advantages including being able to work at your own speed and when the time is best for learning. Online training is not only limited to courses or short videos but can also include live seminars and webinars. Training programs can also send out DVDs that people can watch and their own leisure.

While the above makes online training very appealing, it is important to realize that Botox injections are a hands-on procedure. One must actually try it in person to truly learn the process, all that is required to know can not be gained from simply viewing. One can't learn heart surgery by watching videos of a highly skilled surgeon performing the operation. It takes practice with a doctor present to supervise and give criticism in order to gain the skill needed to do the procedure on one's own.

Hands-on training

Hands-on training is where it the trainee has an opportunity to perform this procedure on either a volunteer or a training dummy. This form of training is always performed under supervision until the supervisor (usually a physician) is confident that the trainee can perform the procedure independently. The trainee will get a great benefit from this kind of training since the professional is on-hand, and mistakes can be corrected; this won't happen by training on the internet because criticism is not possible.

The challenge for hands-on training is organizing the required professionals to be present for the process. It's a challenge to find the time for a busy professional to go to a training seminar in order to show trainees the correct procedures. The venue will need to be organized and this sort of activity can take time. As we view this problem from a larger scope and think about; safety and the results of the procedure for patients, online training just does not measure up to what is learned hands-on.

Integrating online training with hands-on training

Utilizing these methods in combination makes the most sense for those who are learning Botox injection treatments. Online training programs can help allow trainees to read theory and watch certain training videos prior to attending the hands-on training program. After viewing and learning from the internet, the trainee can go to the hands-on training with sufficient knowledge to go through the processes much easier. Using these ways to learn together is the best way for a trainee to get the knowledge they are seeking. A trainee can now watch a detailed animation of a Botox injection procedure, and when they go to the hands-on training later, this knowledge will be highly beneficial.

Synopsis

Botox injection training is best accomplished using both online and hands-on training. There are pros and cons for each method, but learning Botox injection should be done using both, this way, the highest level of knowledge is attained by the attendee.
